Rangers are the archers of the realm of Hibernia. Their extensive training in Recurved Bows proves to be quite useful in the ranged attacks of war. They are similar to the Nightshade class, in that they are capable of stealthing and training in piercing weapons. Their minimal stealth training is useful in hiding and sneaking around enemies in order to find the best position for a bowshot.
They have some magical abilities, which provide them with self-only buffs and run speeds for quick sprinting away from the enemy. Though as small as their magical knowledge may be, the buffs do prove to be useful in making up for lighter training in areas other than the bow.

Mastery of Stealth (MoS) Tactics
When trained to a high level Mastery of Stealth gives a significant advantage when combating assassins, allowing the ranger to get at least one or two point blank bow shots off before the assassin closes to melee distance. It also allows for the ranger to detect and move away from enemy stealthers should they need to escape and evade. At higher realm rank (9+) it is highly beneficial to try and achieve MoS9, particularly for rangers whos play style involves hunting and killing enemy stealthers. Some useful tactics are bulleted below...
- At higher levels of MoS you will more often be travelling faster than stealthers with lower MoS levels, which in turn gives a higher chance of achieving a Celtic Duel Ice Storm side stun on contact. This allows several seconds for the ranger to move away and gain a range advantage. Mastering the execution of the side stun whilst moving in stealth is an important skill. It can be critical in surviving an unexpected contact with an assassin where there is no time for a ranged attack.
- At MoS9, enemy stealthers can be easily detected on a tower oil level when looking down from the tower top, and with the advantage of point blank shot can be quickly dispatched or forced to flee.
- Use your high level of MoS to your advantage when operating on bridges. Scout out the area around the bridge, and always check the tower at the side you enter before crossing. When crossing, stay on the bridge edge to allow for maximum shooting time should you get a contact. If you do, you have the option of dropping into the water and using the Champion Level (CL) disease spell to kite your opponent.
