Factions

Faction is how much a monster trusts, likes or dislikes you. Throughout the world of DAoC you will encounter faction in the monsters and NPCs you meet. Depending upon your faction with an NPC can affect what quest is offered to you. In addition, certain monsters will begin to dislike you immensely after you've killed their cousins, aunts and nephews; to the point to attacking you on sight. It is also possible to raise your faction with one type of monster by killing another type of monster.
